It's the same the whole world over... PDF Print E-mail
By John Northcott

It's the poor wot gets the blame. It's the rich wot gets the gravy. You know what it's like. The power bill arrives and.. you wonder why it's so high and how you're going to pay it. Power costs have risen so much faster than the rate of inflation.

Photo of our author, John.

Of course, the guy who set it all up was rich and has now gone on to other things which will make him even richer. His excuse? Something along the lines of, 'Why do people always pick on mistakes?'

Because it's making them even poorer and you even richer, Max.

I've always thought it was wrong that the gap between the rich and poor is so big, but I hadn't realised that it caused most of our problems: suicide, teen pregnancy, poor mental and physical health, early death, high rate of imprisonment and so on.

Well, now there is compelling evidence that this is so and the rich are adversely affected too.

Don't believe me? Have a look at this initial video here.

The first video only lasts about 13 minutes and it will be 13 minutes well spent. I guarantee that unless you are filthy stinking rich and one-eyed you'll watch the other two and then explore the whole site.

Correction to the title of this rant: It's not the same the whole world over. Watch the video!

Technical tip: Someone complained that the video kept stopping and starting. This is because the playing speed is faster than the download speed (Thank you ISP - still, it makes your owners richer!) Just pause the video, go away and make a nice cup of tea and a sandwich to give the downloading a chance to get ahead. If you're on dial-up, cook yourself a four-course meal.
