URGENT ACTION NEEDED!
The Weekend Herald ran a feature on GE in last weekend's edition and asked for your comment about whether and why the ban on release of GE organisms should be lifted or not. Please take a few minutes to send them an email stating your view. It only needs to be a paragraph or even just a sentence.

"Tell us why you think the GM-ban should be lifted or not." newsdesk@nzherald.co.nz <mailto:newsdesk@nzherald.co.nz>
You might like to mention any of the following reasons for opposing the lifting - hasn't been adequately tested for human safety, effects on environment still inadequately studied to know if it will cause harm, likely to damage NZ's reputation and harm food exports and perhaps potential to attract tourists, represents further attempt by corporations to control food supply, research being conducted in NZ into impacts of GE nowhere near completed yet, will result in consumers being given no choice as will result in contamination of non-GE food.... and others.

As an example....

"Our Farm-Park" - Farmstay the Gentle Way,
at Puhoi, north of Auckland Harbour Bridge New Zealand
organic - GE free - SMOKE-FREE
Kia Ora,
You ran a feature on GE in last weekend's edition and asked for comment about whether (and why) the ban on release of GE organisms should be lifted or not.
We are organic farm owners with our living balanced on the "organic GE Free" attraction to our Farmstay Guests. The release of GE in NZ would bring our business to an end.
We have some 50 families a year from overseas attracted directly because of these values.
As a scientist Peter is totally unconvinced that adequate research has been carried out to be anything like assured no side effects will occur.
As a trained nurse, horticulturalist and gourmet chef here, Nichola(s) must ensure healthy meals for both guests and chemically-sensitive husband. There is absolutely no up-side to the introduction of GE whatsoever.
The moratorium must continue outside the scrupulously controlled laboratory.

Peter and Nichola(s) Rodgers.
