POWER BREAKDOWNS
have residents laying formal complaints

Western Rodney is plagued with repeated power cuts; believed to be the result of a no-maintenance policy controlled by the monopoly lines owner, United Network.

We understand that the electrical supply lines is so bad that the Northern Gateway Alliance building the motorway extension will be installing a separate power supply.

Since May 2005 one Puhoi resident has over 100 bits of paper recording breaks from his fax machine with power often off for several hours. When the first series of collapses occurred in May he was able to record 38 cut outs in an eight day period.

Among many businesses unable to operate without power is the Puhoi Pub. Others, like VillagePRESS face major losses in time, lost data and machine damage.

Not knowing when it will go off again and how long before it returns is causing stress for everyone, business owners, farmers, builders, and housewives ….

For rural residents it is a potential health problem as well.  No electricity means also no water and no toilet facilities, both requiring an electric pump operation.

The problem also occurred in Waiwera itself recently - where the public Tourist hot Pools require pumps, as is case at the water bottling plant too. As a resident of Waiwera, had both a new DVD and an older television burnout, VillagePRESS had a burnout on the main computer.

In correspondence with the writer, Lines Owning company, United networks, has some agreement with company “Vector” (and with others?) – all very incestuous from our view – and expect any complaints to be laid through the RETAILER to whom you pay your bill.
