Monopolies again as service takes a back seat

Puhoi and surrounding areas went without phones for over 12 hours, from late Friday night.  This followed a lengthy power break earlier on Friday.

Builders were without power so many building projects ground to a halt during the power break.

This continuous uncertainty is a major problem to residents and local businesses. VillagePRESS was unable to publish results of the competition, due to be placed on line late Friday evening.

Phone lines had inexplicably “gone dead” for many days prior to the phone collapsing last night.

Telstra-Clear customers, seeking advice all morning were faced with recorded message, “Thank you for waiting. Please continue to hold and one of our service representatives will be with you shortly.”  After half an hour there was a brief new message advising that “due to high demand” the call could not be answered and customers should “try again later”.

Fortunately for Telstra-Clear, Telecom carries the malfunction responsibility because that company carries the phone lines and maintenance as a monopoly.

“Heads they win, tails we lose.”
