Scammer "Alan
Brad" causes a lot of stress for intended victims
One
report from a British restaurateur to VillagePRESS made it clear that he was
concerned that customers might arrive despite the evidence that this is a scam.
We are holding his identity but not publishing to avoid any resultant
embarrassment on his behalf.
He
wrote..
I don't know what can I do if they come for
booking.
could you please write for me what will do on 18th
Feb.
We
replied..
Let us know if they do... it will be
unheard of. This Scammer has been doing this for a couple of years - and has
obviously fooled many people. If you are worried just reply, "Sorry but
we cannot arrange this." Then they would not come... but I wouldn't bother.
and he
wrote back..
None of the phones and email are working.
How can I say him sorry, just booking day I can
say him without
confirmation, we can't do!!!!!!!!!!!
To try to
ease the stress our restaurateur faces, we searched the Internet and found that
not only doesn't this scammer claim to be director
of Staff welfare Aiken Offshores
the same position is claimed by someone else, and the company itself does not
exist.....
Also claimed ia Google search was
...
"Sep 17, 2008 ... I am Engr Andy Jakes, the director of Staff welfare Aiken
Offshores United Kingdom. I want to book dinner for my group of workers . ...
and another scam report on
"Alan Brad" arrives this morning.

The Group Dining Email Scam
Wednesday, September 17, 2008, by Paolo
Yesterday,
we shed some light on a
Gucci blouse scam that's been circulating throughout the upscale
restaurant circles, and today, we're pleased to share another
ridiculous would-be scam.
The ploy for this one is even more far-fetched than yesterday's: a person
emails the restaurant with the desire to book the place for three
consecutive group dinners (in a letter that resembles those spammy emails
from dying African princes with millions of dollars for you if only you
share your credit card). Well, one heavyhitter local restaurant
tried to see how far the group dining scammers would take the act
(note: not the pictured Fifth Floor; that's just a graphic). As it turns
out, they got pretty deep into the process before cutting off communications
when the scammer promised to pay after the three meals
because he's currently on an oil rig. Seriously people, can't we conjure up
some vaguely-believable scams?
