January 26, 2009 How to pay toll on short tunneled section of motorway The now finished section of the Northern Motorway north of Auckland is tolled. Casual users can prepay the NZ$2 one way charge at a toll booth on the northern side of BP Service station if approaching from the south. The tolled section does NOT have to be used -- vehicles can turn off into Orewa and use the road north without charge. Prepaying for each vehicle by registration number costs a minimum of NZ$48 and can be charged against Visa or Mastercard with monthly account details available by email or mail. Payment after you have used it can be included in your Toll Account within three days of usage.
