BOOK REVIEW If you have read a book you would like to share, do write a review under your name (or a constant "review Name" - see 'Ethics') Bryce Courtney "Fishing for Stars" - Penguin Group (Australia) 2008 Reviewed by Peter E This is by no means the first novel by Australian Bryce Courtney that has captivated my attention and was so hard to put down. It is 602 pages that end too soon -- again I did not want this book to end. In three separate sections, the theme involves the narrating character and the two women he loves, who have diametrically opposed but highly successful approaches to the life they each choose - and hate each other. The author's massive support team provides historic base to Australia's involvement in World War 2, Indonesia, East Timor, the Pacific Islands and Japan; and the way the Green Party came out ofTasmania. The results will not please the governments of any of those countries. Ecology and major concern for the future safety of our world is dealt with in a realistic and clearly supported -- Bryce calls for our support in the epilogue and final page. Activities name actual people... I need to share what I have read with friends who read it also. If you read it, I would personally like to hear your view. -- PER
