REAL LIFE STORIES: SHARING  WITH YOU

Marianne Poszeluk tells he experiences belonging to the Lions Club...

....Through the Eyes of a Club Secretary

What a great Club!

Yes I’m talking about our Club, THE HAVELOCK NORTH VILLAGE LIONS.

As a new Club I didn’t know quite what to expect. I had already been a Lion for some seven years and been in a larger Club of 37 members then a small Club of 11, so Havelock North Village was different again.

YEAR ONE saw us meeting each other, finding our feet and getting an idea of what

“WE SERVE” really meant….Our sponsor Club Hastings Host was our backbone

and our Guardian Angel Peter Mackie our mentor.

Meeting twice a month for dinner, though fun, was not what Lions was all about…

we needed something more and we began to find projects to get our teeth into.

As we grew in numbers and confidence, we took on slightly bigger projects which again gave us strength and purpose.

YEAR TWO

We were becoming friends, not just members, we were seeing the bigger picture – knowing each other better made us stronger and more confident, and many began mixing outside of Club activities enjoying each others company.

Growing in numbers, confidence and strength was positive though could mean that we had a stronger voice if we all didn’t see things the same way…creating interesting and conflicting conversation at times…this was all good as is meant we heard different opinions and idea’s.

Projects were bigger and more frequent as were the social get togethers…

…both creating great FELLOWSHIP & FUN.

YEAR THREE, AWESOME!

All rowing in the same direction and loving it….And if you’re not getting something out of it, ask yourself why?

As I say to Life

“What you get out is a reflection of what you put in…So give it heaps!”

This is just my view from the Secretary’s chair, I commend you all for what we are doing and am grateful for the opportunity to assist our Club, Our Organization and mostly our community whilst caring for each other along the way.

The Havelock North Village Lions meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month

Whilst projects are important fellowship and fun is our main focus

so if you are interested in finding our more about us call
