Global warming - diabetes - water...
Editorial
March 2008
Kia Ora,
What a strange late summer it has been. Almost
everyone I know has been -- and is -- frenetically busy in a world made
so much (easier?!?) by technology.
And in the background recurring apocalyptic threats. Now the undoubted
Global Warming -- not to those who'd rather not believe their eyes of
course -- is relegated by a diabetes epidemic. A major problem facing the
world is somewhat hidden -- fresh water shortage.
Very few people seem to realise, that there is no way to avoid paying for
any recovery we can make. Why then is there no added tax to what business
charges for areas where causes can be isolated -- like fast food as a simple
example. And why are water rights able to be
controlled by private business -- International Chemical giant Monsanto
gobbling away quietly in the wings.
Politics all round the world chasing votes to
protect parties not the population.
But who has time to sort out the truth from the
lies, the speculation from the facts, time for logical and not emotional
decisions?
It does occur to me that “old people” - as I saw
them when I was young -- seemed to doubt the world then too. |
