What a winter !! What weather,
what a world…
Like so many of the people I know, I have had bronchitis and
pneumonia – almost three months of coughing, adhesive bedclothes, and
worry about what is not getting done. Thank goodness for some totally
reliable contractors able to work from little more than verbal instructions.
Great to have the sun for a week and drying out – just in time for
75mm of drenching rain and more mud yet again.
Meanwhile politics has been a
disgusting scene with a “Beehive Toy Town” in Wellington trying to decide if
Labour is more immoral than National, and whether the safety of persons and
property is a ‘cultural matter’ and thus another “PC” ‘no-touch’ subject.
Another area of conflict and concern is whether the
Courts or the ‘popular’ Press decide who’s guilty, with the ‘popPress’
dishing out punitive headlines to feed their 'bottom line' regardless of the
legal requirement that all are innocent until proved guilty.
Hypocrisy is reaching new levels; not unique to NZ of course.
Let me illustrate, in just one area, the popular
press’ commercial interest.
May I ask that you listen to the first performance of an
amazing 11-year-old singer, Bianca Ryan.

At the end of her item you will note the advice to change her
appearance from an 11-year-old and see the final
America's Got Talent- Bianca Ryan (Finale) .

As you will see, she has followed that advice (and won the million
dollars first prize), and now her
appearance matches the maturity of her amazing voice. But she is still only
11 years old – and the Press and Courts attack ‘suggested’ paedophilic
behaviours at every opportunity. While this 11-year-old is physically not a
child, it seems indecent (at least) to present her as fully adult.
So will we next be subjected to 'sub-Press' suggestive attacks on
her father…
I hate to think.
