As Annie sees it....,
THE MIGHT OF A
POLITICAL ORGANIZATION.
The dictionary tells me that “Power
is having the means to influence, compel or punish,” and to qualify
these verbs, the noun New Zealander’s, fits right into the Labour party’s
objective. To take further the dictionary’s wise words, power is also the right
to command, decide, rule or judge.
How good is that ! Helen Clark
and her cohorts said, “We’ll have a bunch of those little morsels.”
"We’ll influence the mortals with our Pledge card, and even let them pay for
the privilege.
"We’ll change the way they think and
feel about prostitution, we’ll even let them have a knocking shop as a
neighbour! Well change the way they think and feel about same sex marriages,
we’ll just be very civil about it. We’ll change the way they bring up their
kids, and command them not to smack or else! After all didn’t we decide they
were not allowed to smoke in public and how good was that! But best of all we’ll
rule with an iron sickle, cut them down by ignoring consensus of opinion, that
quirky little activity called Referendum, that we are not compelled to take any
notice of, and advise the morons that we have the authority to do so. We’ll
soothe our ruffled feathers in the knowledge that give or take a few weeks these
little irritations will just be a scratch on the landscape."
So far so good the Labourites thought. We’ve given back the money we stole,
sneaked, borrowed, (sorry, which was it?) from the public purse for our pledge
card, now, we just have to find a way to punish these retards for catching us at
it. We’ll also have to punish those idiots, I mean those National Party Walla’s,
who have far too much money tucked away to use against us at the next election.
The Electoral Finance Bill is just the thing. This will take care of all those
wealthy contributions those sneaky Nats have a habit of ferreting away. With the
help of our handmaidens (thank you MMP) we’ll ram this law through. With one
foul swoop, during election year, we’ll curb the Nats pulling power by limiting
their spending power. Not only that, we’ll put the brakes on third parties too,
give them a reduced budget and a restricted period, can’t give these plebs the
same opportunities as the parliamentary elite.
Shutting up the public voice, (maybe for three months), is another brilliant
idea-put that person’s name on the honour’s list - just in case anything is said
to influence others against us during campaign time. We will let them apply for
the right to be heard though-register with the state first and there’ll be no
criminal intent Mother Helen warned, now we can’t be fairer that that.
All that’s left to do is to take advantage of the running start we’ve given
ourselves, after all we are the Government and deserve the right to more funds,
how else can we have a spend up to get our message across whenever. By the way
when this law is passed, we will be exempt from any political expense, and use
your money to pay for our pledge card will be perfectly legal, now isn’t that
the best.
It’s been decreed ‘People are people through other people,’ and we all know that
society gets the government they deserve. It used to be called Democracy.
That’s my thoughts for the day.
-- Annie.
